Yellow Flags Flying on the Outer Banks, what does it mean?

  

Most people know about the Red 'No Swimming' Flags and official No Swimming Advisories that bombard the media for Public Safety when in effect. Red flags are visible and abundant during No Swimming Advisories and mean, High Rip Current Conditions at area Beaches!

But not everyone knows what a Yellow Flag Flying on the beach means because the Yellow flag does not require the media attention as the Red Flags Flying. However, most people associate the color Yellow with Caution, and in a way, the Yellow Flags do mean Caution.

The Ocean Bay Boulevard Beach Access is Pet-Friendly and Handicap Accessible. In addition to the parking at 103 S. Virginia Dare Trail in front of the Ocean Rescue Office and Bathhouse, there is additional parking across the street that accesses a push-button crosswalk for safety.

The Public Bathhouse at this location does have showers and several other amenities that you will find listed on the above link to the Town of Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue link.

In The Town of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Dogs are not permitted on the beaches between Memorial Day and Labor Day between 9 AM and 6 PM, except for those aiding a disabled person. Leash law requires dogs to be leashed year-round.

The Town of Kill Devil Hills does have "Dogi-Pot" stations at town beach access locations. Please clean up after your pet.
