When some people hear "Turtle Pond," they think of Central Park in Manhattan, NY, in New York City. But, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, in the Town of Kill Devil Hills, "Turtle Pond" is "also known as" AKA name for "Aviation Park."

Aviation Park is at 103 Veterans Drive in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Aviation Park has such a vast array of amenities that it is only natural to establish "also known as" AKA names.

According to the Kill Devil Hills Police Dept. (reported in local and regional news), Aviation Park is located off of Veterans Drive, across from the First Flight High School, and is also known as "Skate Park'', "Frog Pond'', and "Turtle Pond."

Aviation Park is also the location of The Town of Kill Devil Hills - Dog Park, "Mary's Paws Park." Aviation Park is the busiest public park in the Town of Kill Devil Hills, NC.

from 10 am - 2 pm

The Town of Kill Devil Hills Buildings & Grounds Division maintains the Pond area at Aviation Park. The turtles, fish & frogs that inhabit the pond are on a natural diet and are not fed by the town; There is also a sign at the end of the small pier that extends into the pond that requests that the public not feed the turtles, fish & animals.

There is a 1/5 mile fitness trail around Turtle Pond. Park benches and Wooden Park Bench Swings sit along the pond front. In addition, a platform and a short pier extend into the pond to view the turtles, fish, and frogs.
