One hundred years after the Wright Flyer took Flight, the Town of Kitty Hawk, NC, unveiled and became home to the "Monument to a Century of Flight," dedicated on December 17th, 2003.

| Monument to a Century of Flight |
The Monument to a Century of Flight consists of fourteen towering stainless steel wing-shaped pylons that are faced with images set into black granite that tell the story of the birth and growth of Aviation. The story starts in 1903 and continues into Space. All images face inward toward a bronze six-foot earthbound dome, representing earth.
Accessible by the one-way circular road that encircles the Aycock Brown Welcome Center is the Monument to a Century of Flight. As you are halfway around the circular route, you will see a sign pointing you to "Monument to a Century of Flight." You will be exiting the circle and entering a square parking lot on your right.
The Pet area of Outer Banks Visitors Bureau / Kitty Hawk also know at the Aycock Brown Welcome Center is on the left side of the parking lot. Please see the Town of Kitty Hawk Pet-Friendly information and links below:

Leash law requires leash not to exceed six feet in length between the hours of 10AM and 6PM from Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Labor Day. At all other times leash may be extended up to 12 feet. Well trained dogs may be unleashed under close supervision of owner, not to exceed 30 feet in distance between owner and dog, but leash must be with owner at all times. In the right front corner of the parking lot, you will see a black granite marker and entryway to the Monument to a Century of Flight. Unfortunately, "The Monument to a Century of Flight" can not be viewed from the parking lot. However, the monument is surrounded by beautiful trees that provide a welcoming shaded walk to the Monument to a Century of Flight.

In addition to being a spectacular monument, the stories stand out in a memorable way that will provide knowledge and recall for quite a while.
The Town of Kitty Hawk is also home to the "Wright Brother Multi-Use Path." Walk back in history on a path overlooking Kitty Hawk Bay that the Wright Brothers used.
