Built in 1901, the Hatteras Weather Bureau Station has stood the test of time and weathered many storms. The U.S. Weather Station ( 1902 - 1946) after many years of service in the U.S. Meteorological Weather Network, now serves as a Welcome Center that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
You will be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff at the U.S. Weather Station/ Hatteras Welcome Center that can answer questions and provide information on Area Attractions, State & National Parks, National Parks Campgrounds, ferry schedules, brochures, pamphlets, maps & more, free for your reference and to keep as mementos of your Outer Banks Adventure.
Pets are welcome on the grounds of this Visitor Information Center. If you walk your dog at U.S. Weather Bureau Station / Hatteras Welcome Center , please remember that all dogs must be on a leash not to exceed six feet in length at National Park properties. Dogs are not allowed inside buildings & you must clean up after your pets.
