Sarah Owens Welcome Center welcomes pets to the OBX!

Outer Banks Visitors arriving from mainland Dare County crossing the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge will find the Sarah Owens Welcome Center at the base of the bridge on Roanoke Island.

The Sarah Owens Welcome Center truly welcomes guests to the Outer Banks. The large "Welcome to The Outer Banks of North Carolina" sign makes visitors feel that they have finally arrived on the OBX.

In addition to having covered picnic areas, restrooms, and a nice lawn to stretch your legs, the Sarah Owens Welcome Center has made an especially designated area for dogs. Your canine family members can stretch their legs and relax on the beautifully manicured lawn. A particular post with free poop bags and the trash can is also prominently located in the doggie area. Your dog must be on a leash at all times on the grounds of the Welcome Center. Dogs are not allowed inside buildings.

Information on everything Outer Banks awaits inside the Sarah Owens Welcome Center. The knowledgeable, friendly staff can help you find maps and information on pet-friendly accommodations & has an accommodation reservation center, public phones, and information on area attractions, events, and restaurants, from fast food to gourmet seafood.
