The distinguishing black & white candy cane striped lighthouse that once stood many years on the Atlantic oceanfront in Buxton, NC, was moved to its current location in 1999.
If you plan to climb the 269 steps from the ground level to the top observation platform, please know that pets are not allowed inside the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse or the property's buildings.
Pets are welcome on the grounds only. All pets must be on a leash not to exceed 6 feet in length. Please do not leave pets unattended. In addition, it is greatly appreciated that you clean up after your pet.
