Annually the fourth Saturday of September is National Public Lands Day. This year National Public Lands day is
September 24th, 2022.
National Public Lands Day was first celebrated in 1994 and has a continued increase in participation each year.
National Public Lands Day is considered the highest participation volunteer day in the nation and encourages people to get outside and promotes environmental stewardship, bringing communities together.
Three National Parks are located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site & Wright Brothers National Memorial.
All Three Outer Banks National Public Lands are Pet-Friendly.
Dogs must be on a leash not to exceed six feet, when visiting the
National Parks on the Outer Banks. Pets are not allowed inside buildings.

There is no admission fee (Fee-Free) at the Wright Brothers National Memorial on National Public Lands Day.
