Currituck Beaches are considered the northernmost part of the Outer Banks of North Carolina's sandy peninsula. The Wild Horses of Corolla run free through the dunes in the communities of Corolla & Carova. The wild Mustangs are thought to be descendants of Shipwreck survivors that happen offshore in the Atlantic centuries ago. The Beaches of Currituck span approximately 20 miles of Atlantic shoreline.
The Atlantic coastline changes with the tides, creating new views daily. Surf fishing is an active sport on the oceanfront, as well as swimming & surfing. Beachcombing yields shells, beach glass, shark's teeth, and more. The sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean is unforgettable. If you or your Pampered Pet dig any holes in the sand, please remember to fill them back in before you depart the beach. Holes on the beach endanger sea turtles and other wildlife on the oceanfront beaches, as well as people and vehicular traffic on the beach.
Driving on the 4x4 Currituck Beaches is permitted year-round. Parking on the oceanfront will require a beach parking permit in season. Currituck Beaches are separated from the mainland of Currituck County on the west side of the peninsula by the Currituck Sound. The brackish waters of the Currituck Sound that called duck hunters to this sandy strip for decades also call kayakers, boaters, fishermen, bird watchers, and more to explore the Currituck Sound. Currituck Beaches are alive with wildlife and nature. The sunsets on the sound side are spectacular. It's not uncommon to see whitetail deer, raccoons, foxes, rabbits, and more roaming the dunes.

Currituck County wide leash law require that your pet be on a leash.
Your pet is also allowed on the Beaches of Currituck year-round.
