Today is World Rabies Day

World Rabies Day, celebrated on September 28th annually, was chosen to honor Louis Pasteur, who passed away on this date and left behind the legacy of creating the first rabies vaccination.

Rabies vaccinations have been progressively improving, and the World Health Organization (WHO) announced in May of  2021 a new oral rabies vaccination.

As the Governments, Health organizations, Animal Groups, and Others Unite to Eradicate Rabies, education is important. This year's theme is Rabies: Facts Not Fear.

Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) offers four free online educational courses in which you can earn a certification. The courses are available to anyone with no prerequisite required. Please visit https://rabiesalliance.org/capacity-building/gep for more information.
