Coastal Humane Society |
Coastal Humane Society is a private, all volunteer, non-profit organization working on the Outer Banks to ensure all animals are cared for and no owner or caretaker is forced to give up a pet because of (medical) financial hardship.
The Society helps pay for low-cost spay & neuter, vaccinations & emergency medical bills.
We have helped more than 3,500 animals, owners & caretakers in Dare County and Lower Currituck County since 1997.
With the downturn in our economy, we're receiving more requests for help than ever before.
We would like to acknowledge Mike Kelly of Kelly's Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern, who founded and sponsors the Annual Kelly's St. Patrick’s Day Parade and allows us to participate and raise funds for the organization.
Founded in 1989, Kelly's St. Patrick’s Day Parade has grown into the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the state of North Carolina.
The 1.2 mile parade includes marching bands, marching/walking units & floats. The 19th annual Kelly's St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2008 marked a record 1500 participants with 8-9,000 spectators. The parade does not end after the parade route. Parade units/participants & spectators are treated to a tented cook-out at Kelly's Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern immediately after the parade. The 2009 parade steps off at 1 PM Sunday March 15th, 2009.
The 11th Annual Coastal Human Society Walk-A-Thon March 16th 2008 was a success. A special thank you goes out to our Prize Sponsors & Walkers! We hope to grow even larger in 2009 for the 12th Annual Walk-A-Thon.
