National Aviation Day is August 19th

Wright Brothers National Memorial
The Wright Brothers first achieved flight on the 17th day of December 1903.

But it wasn't until August 19th in 1939, that National Aviation Day was created. On that day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a Presidential Proclamation that declared August 19th, National Aviation Day.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt chose  the  date of August 19th as a way to honor Orville Wright, on his 68th Birthday. So from that year forward, National Aviation Day has been celebrated on Orville Wrights Birthday.

Look for Celebration schedules at the Wright Bothers National Memorial on the Wright Brothers National Memorial website.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial is Pet Friendly. Leashed pets are welcome on the grounds of the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Leashes must not exceed six (6) feet in length and pets will not have access to museum buildings.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial was built in 1932, in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Thousands of visitors come to the Wright Brothers National Memorial each year. Visitors climb to the heights of the monument's base, to look first hand at the flight path of  the Wright Brothers.

Before climbing the monument's hill, the ocean breezes, can be felt by guest. On the grounds granite boulders mark the landing of each flight. A reconstructed open camp stands, to show guest the conditions under which the Wright Brothers worked. There is a park area and so many things to explore on the grounds of the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

National Aviation Day is a Celebration the whole family can take part in, including your Pampered Pets at the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

In addition to Celebrations at the Wright Brothers National Memorial for National Aviation Day, Celebrations are happening all over the United States. There are also grand Celebrations in Dayton, OH birth place of the Wright Brothers. Airports both big and small are Celebrating National Aviation Day. Please check with each event as to it's Pet Friendliness.
