Black Beard the Cat

"Black Beard" is a Black Cat & resident of Ocracoke Island.

Black Beard just showed up one day & became the only beloved pet of the family. Not knowing Black Beard the Cat's history makes this even more interesting.

Is it possible that Black Beard the Cat may be a descendant of Cats that lived on Ocracoke Island during the time of Black Beard the Pirate? What a Great Name for for a Black Cat that lives on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina.

October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

The American Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is promoting shelter dogs for families looking for a pet.

There are many dogs at many shelters, just waiting for their forever family. There are many reasons to adopt a shelter dog. There are so many dogs to choose from different shapes, sizes, colors & ages.

Each Dog has it's own unique story and personality. Most shelter dogs are mixed breeds having traits from more than one breed - Mutts Are Great :) If mixed breeds weren't so great, what is this new trend with designer dogs? Designer Dog is just a fancy word for Mutt. Don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars with a breeder or puppy mill, when your perfect pal & Designer Dog could be waiting for you at your nearest shelter.

There is nothing wrong with purebred dogs either & shelters do have purebred dogs as well. If you are looking for a purebred dog, your shelter can put you on a list to contract when your chosen bred becomes available or put you in contact with a bred rescue.

Please, if you are ready to make the commitment to share your love & life with a dog forever, SAVE A LIFE.

Jager is a 7 year old German Shepard, from Newport News, VA. This photograph was taken in Corova during Jager's 2008 vacation. This was Jager's 10th vacation at the Outer Banks. Some of Jager's favorite thing to do while on vacation are swimming, chasing his tennis ball on the beach and at night he loves to chase crabs.
