Daisy May finds her Forever Home

Daisy May is a 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier that was recently adopted on January 22nd 2009 from the Outer Banks SPCA operators of the Dare County Animal Shelter.

Daisy May now lives happily with her Forever Family on Historic Roanoke Island with her own fenced in back yard and she is an only pet.

Daisy May is a loving lap dog that just loves people and she has started to make her rounds to all of the local pet specialty stores here on the Outer Banks.

Daisy May has been to Salty Paws Homemade Biscuits, in Kitty Hawk and gotten Gourmet Doggie Treats. She is pictured above with her new Mom at the Holistic Pet Shop in Kill Devil Hills, where she got her own pet safe car seat, now she can ride safely & see out the window. Daisy May’s ladybug harness & leash also came from the Holistic Pet Shop.

Don't forget as Barrett Welch, DVM points out in this months veterinary article; "Contrary to most beliefs, one fourth of all shelter dogs are pure bred."

Presidential Pet Museum

There is so much in the press about which pet the new President will choose, we thought it would be interesting to see all of the past Presidential Pets.

At http://www.presidentialpetmuesum.com/ you can see all of the White House Pets, all the way back to our very first President George Washington 1789-1707.

You might be surprised because it was not only cats & dogs that have had the honor of being Presidential Pets.

Snow on the Ocean Front - Shadow's Adventure

On January 21, 2009 the snow began to fall on the Historic Beaches of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Atlantic Ocean pounded the coastline as if applauding the snows arrival. Shadow, a 1 year old spayed Black Lab, just knew something was up & couldn't wait to get outside & explore. Shadow lives on the ocean front of Nags Head, NC and has been a resident for 1 year. Shadow is an only pet but her human Mom & Dad sometimes take her to see her real sisters Kona & Kokko & their human Mom’s & Dad’s. As the snow fell on Shadow's nose and frost bit her little toes, her Dad took photographs to preserve Shadow's adventure. A special thank you goes out to Shadow & her human Mom & Dad (Dr. & Mrs. Anthony) for sharing Shadow’s adventure in the snow. Photos by Dr. Anthony.
