Currituck County’s New Animal Shelter Plans make Front Page News

Ginger Sikes, President of the Animal Lovers Assistance League, Inc., operators of the Currituck County Animal Shelter, recently presented new plans to County Commissioners to provide Currituck County with a New 21st Century Animal Shelter.

These plans made front page news in the Daily Advance newspaper. You can read this front page story by clicking on the provided link:
http://www.dailyadvance.com/news/group-seeks-15m-for-currituck-animal-shelter-304950.html

Ginger Sikes stated:

“We made a big presentation to our County Commissioners on Monday re: new shelter. There's an article on 12/18 with a picture of the new shelter on the front page, top headline in the Daily Advance . It's a good article but misquotes me. I said that it would be one of the best shelters in surrounding counties, not the best in the country! And we've worked on this for 2 yrs., not a couple of weeks.”

Harley getting ready for the Town of Manteo's Annual Christmas Parade

December 6th 2008 at 11am was the start of the Town of Manteo's Annual Christmas Parade.

This year, Manteo Marine, Inc. donated the use of a decorated boat to be used as a float for "Elizabeth R and Company", the resident professional theater company for Roanoke Island Festival Park. The company star is Miss Barbara Hird, Actor/Singer and the star of "Elizabeth R" The International Hit One-Woman Show.

Harley, a Roanoke Island resident Husky, chauffeured members of the ER Company, well that is with the help of his human Mom "Wendy" & Dad "Bruce". Harley decorated with his big red bow sat warmly in the tow vehicle & encouraged his Mom to throw candy. Harley did such a good job we are sure he will be asked to be in next year’s Annual Christmas Parade.
