Coastal Humane Society

The Coastal Humane Society is a private, all-volunteer, non-profit organization working on the Outer Banks of NC to ensure all animals are cared for and no owner or caretaker is forced to give up a pet because of (medical) financial hardship. The Society helps pay for low-cost pet spays & neuter, vaccinations & emergency medical bills.

The Coastal Humane Society has helped more than 3,500 animals, owners & caregivers, in Dare County & Lower Currituck County since 1997. With the downturn in the economy, they are receiving more request for help than ever before.

Special Memorial Posting for "Floyd"

Floyd was a 6 year old neutered male Bassett Hound that had two families before finally finding his forever home, in Manteo on Historic Roanoke Island. Floyd was a special needs boy, who had been diagnosed with Lymph sarcoma, (cancer of the lymphatic system). Floyd was chosen by the Outer Banks SPCA to grace the cover of the very first Outer Banks SPCA Outer Banks Pet Calendar, which will be available at area retailers during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

You can read more about Floyd by seeing the Pampered Pets Guide blog

Floyd passed away on November 7th, 2008 and he will be greatly missed by his forever home. He had so much love to share. Floyd will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
