Black Beard the Cat

"Black Beard" is a Black Cat & resident of Ocracoke Island. Black Beard just showed up one day & became the only beloved pet of the family.

Not knowing Black Beard the Cat's history makes this even more interesting. Is it possible that Black Beard the Cat may be a descendant of Cats that lived on Ocracoke Island during the time of Black Beard the Pirate?

What a Great Name for for a Black Cat that lives on Ocracoke Island.

October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

The American Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is promoting shelter dogs for families looking for a pet. There are many dogs at many shelters, just waiting for their forever family.

There are many reasons to adopt a shelter dog.

There are so many dogs to choose from different shapes, sizes, colors & ages. Each Dog has it's own unique story and personality.

Most shelter dogs are mixed breeds having traits from more than one breed - Mutts Are Great :) If mixed breeds weren't so great, what is this new trend with designer dogs? Designer Dog is just a fancy word for Mutt. Don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars with a breeder or puppy mill, when your perfect pal & Designer Dog could be waiting for you at your nearest shelter.

There is nothing wrong with purebred dogs either & shelters do have purebred dogs as well. If you are looking for a purebred dog, your shelter can put you on a list to contract when your chosen bred becomes available or put you in contact with a bred rescue.

Please, if you are ready to make the commitment to share your love & life with a dog forever, SAVE A LIFE.
